Experienced duo Roelof van der Merwe and Colin Ackermann have been selected for the Netherlands’ 15-player squad for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. Despite not being part of the squad that qualified for the World Cup, they have been included in the final list of players who will compete in India during October and November. Both players bring a wealth of experience, with van der Merwe and Ackermann playing notable roles in last year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
During the T20 World Cup, Ackermann was the second leading run-scorer for the Netherlands, while van der Merwe contributed with his performances in batting, bowling, and fielding. Their experience in domestic competitions around the world adds depth to the team. The Netherlands will rely on opening batter Max O’Dowd and all-rounder Bas de Leede to make significant contributions with the bat and ball.
Under the guidance of coach Ryan Cook, the Netherlands will play warm-up matches against Australia and India before the World Cup. Their first match in the tournament will be against Pakistan in Hyderabad. The squad consists of Scott Edwards as captain, along with players such as Teja Nidamanuru, Paul van Meekeren, Logan van Beek, and Saqib Zulfiqar among others.
