The Male Seminary Recreation Center at Cherokee Nation offers free volleyball, basketball, and pickleball leagues for Cherokee Nation citizens. Located in Tahlequah, the center, also known as “Markoma,” provides various sports leagues such as cornhole and softball. Terry Hooper, the Lead Rec Specialist, welcomes everyone to the center and is happy to see people staying active and healthy.

Apart from sports leagues, the center also offers free gym equipment and fitness classes to Cherokee Nation citizens. Non-citizens can also join by paying a membership fee of $20. The center offers a variety of sports leagues throughout the year, starting with the fall basketball league in November and moving on to volleyball, pickleball, cornhole, and softball.

In addition to sports leagues, the center also hosts a senior’s class three days a week, where they play chair volleyball. The seniors enjoy the movement and activity, and there are plans to expand the class to four days a week. The Male Seminary Recreation Center is open every day of the week and offers various programs and activities for all age groups and interests.

The center is located at 1501 Graham Ave in Tahlequah and is open Monday to Thursday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, individuals can contact the center at 918-453-5496.
