Titans cornerback L’Jarius Sneed believed that he deserved to be the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL, but his new contract details suggest otherwise. According to a source familiar with the terms, the four-year deal averages $19.1 million in total.

The contract includes a signing bonus of $20 million and a fully guaranteed base salary of $4.32 million for the 2024 season. Additionally, there is a per-game active roster bonus of $680,000 for 2024, which is also fully guaranteed but needs to be earned.

For the 2025 season, Sneed will receive a fully guaranteed base salary of $18.32 million, along with a per-game active roster bonus of $680,000. In 2026, his base salary will be $15.15 million, with $11 million guaranteed for injury at signing and $7.5 million becoming fully guaranteed in March 2026. There is also a per-game active roster bonus of $850,000 for the 2026 season.

In 2027, Sneed’s base salary will be $15.55 million, with a per-game active roster bonus of $850,000. The total average of the deal is $19.1 million, which is less than the $19.989 million franchise-tag salary for 2024. The cash flow will be $25 million in 2024 and $19 million in 2025, with $680,000 of the cash in each of the first two seasons dependent on Sneed being on the active roster for every game.

While the deal includes $44 million in full guarantees at signing, slightly exceeding the two-year franchise-tag payout of $43.97 million, the back end of the deal is lighter with $16.2 million per year in the final two seasons. Ultimately, Sneed’s decision to sign the new contract with the Titans commits him for two more seasons, whereas taking the franchise tag for 2024 and determining his future in 2025 might have been a more lucrative option.
