The Atlanta Open has revealed the lineup for its 2024 tournament, featuring top tennis players such as Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe. The tournament will take place from July 20-28 at Atlantic Station, with Shelton, a native of Atlanta and the world No. 14 ranked player, headlining the event. Tiafoe, a three-time tournament champion, will also be competing.
This year marks the final edition of the tournament after 15 successful years. Peter Lebedevs, the Executive Vice President of Tennis Operations for GF Sports & Entertainment, expressed excitement about hosting another impressive field of players. The tournament will kick off with an exhibition match between women’s tennis stars Venus Williams and Sloane Stevens on July 21.
The complete lineup of players for the Atlanta Open includes top-ranked players such as James Duckworth, Adrian Mannarino, and Mackenzie McDonald. Other notable players participating in the tournament include Jordan Thompson, David Goffin, and Borna Coric, among others.
Ben Shelton, son of former Georgia Tech tennis player and coach Bryan Shelton, has made a name for himself in the tennis world. Bryan Shelton achieved All-American status at Georgia Tech and later coached the women’s tennis team to a national championship in 2007 before moving on to coach the men’s team at the University of Florida. The Shelton family relocated to Gainesville after Bryan’s new coaching position.
