Final Reading Approval for Reform in the Import of Electrical Goods in Israel

The Knesset Economic Commission has approved a bill for final reading that shifts responsibility for the quality of imported electrical goods sold in the European Union to importers. This bill is part of the “What’s good for Europe is good for Israel” reform promoted by the Ministry of Economy. According to the bill, the Ministry of Energy will publish the types of electrical goods that can be imported via the “European route” based on a declaration of compliance with energy efficiency requirements. It will also be possible to import low energy consumption devices such as decoders, printers, radios, computers, etc. without the need for inspections.
