In June, Finnish private investors were actively buying stocks, especially those that had seen significant drops in value throughout the year. According to Nordnet’s stock trading statistics, the most popular purchase among Finnish investors was the American chip designer Nvidia. The Country Director of Nordnet Finland, Suvi Tuppurainen, noted that without the significant purchases of Neste, a Finnish company, private investors’ domestic share weight would have decreased by around 20 million euros.

Neste, which had fallen by 47 percent since the beginning of the year, was the most traded and net purchased domestic stock among Nordnet’s Finnish customers for the third month in a row. The 14 percent price drop in June further encouraged private investors to buy more of the stock, as they hoped for a turnaround in its performance. Nvidia’s stock was also popular among Finnish investors in June, with shares being bought net for 14.9 million euros.

Aside from Neste and Nvidia, Finnish investors also net bought stocks from companies like Premature, Outokumpu, and Nokian Tires in June. On the other hand, the most net sold Finnish stocks included Command, Pharao, and Nordea. Investors tended to favor companies that paid strong dividends and transferred funds to those that had lost value. Overall, stocks, funds, and ETFs saw similar levels of additional investments from Nordnet’s Finnish customers on a net basis in June.
