Fire Destroys Butler County Health Department Building

The Butler County Health Department building in Greenville was destroyed by a fire that broke out early Sunday morning. The Butler County Sheriff confirmed that a 911 call was made around 3:30 a.m. reporting the fire. Responding officers and firefighters declared it a general alarm fire, and unfortunately, the building is considered a total loss. The state Fire Marshal’s office, local fire officials, police, and the sheriff’s department are all working together to investigate the cause of the fire.

Greenville Police Chief Justin Lovvorn stated that, at this time, the fire does not appear to be intentional, but the investigation is still ongoing. Fortunately, no one was inside the building at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. The Alabama Department of Public Health is currently searching for a temporary location to continue providing services to the community.

In the meantime, residents are advised to contact the Crenshaw County Health Department or other nearby locations for assistance.
