Early Sunday morning, a fire broke out at the building that housed the Butler County Health Department and Butler County EMA office in Greenville, located on Airport Road. Fire crews responded to the scene around 3:30 a.m. and found the building fully engulfed in flames. Despite their efforts to extinguish the fire, the building was ultimately deemed a total loss.
Fortunately, no one was inside the building at the time of the fire, and there were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but authorities have ruled out arson as a possible cause. The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) is currently working to identify a temporary location to continue providing health services to the people of Butler County.
In the meantime, residents are encouraged to reach out to the Crenshaw County Health Department or other nearby locations for health services. The ADPH website offers contact information and operating hours for all county health department locations.
