Holly’s softball team had a successful day on Thursday, sweeping Flushing with scores of 14-3 and 10-9. Alyssa Bowman was the winning pitcher in both games, striking out eight in the first game and seven in the second. In the opener, Megan McMullen led the team with three runs, two hits, two RBIs, and three stolen bases. Molly Charboneau and Paisley McDougal added two hits each, while Evelyn Miller scored three runs. In the second game, McDougal had three hits and McMullen scored three times.
In another softball matchup, Linden swept Swartz Creek with scores of 10-4 and 10-2. Sophia Helm was the winning pitcher in both games, going 6-for-8 at the plate with four RBIs. Morgan Piotrovsky hit her seventh home run of the season, Maizy Aeschliman hit her fifth home run, and Ava Siegwald contributed five hits, four RBIs, and three steals.
New Lothrop also had a successful day, sweeping Montrose with scores of 5-0 and 10-0. Victoria Henige had three hits and three RBIs in the first game, and Brynne Birchmeier had four RBIs and three hits in the second game. The team is now 17-4-1 for the season.
In baseball action, Genesee Christian defeated Clarkston Everest 7-6 after erasing deficits of 4-0 and 6-4. Elias Morgan had an RBI single to knock in the winning run, and Bryce Johns was the winning pitcher. Alex Walls, Dylan Lunney, and Colin Zwierzynski each had two hits for Genesee Christian, while Lunney, Johns, and Will Duthler had two RBIs apiece.
