Link Jarrett, the coach of Florida State baseball, is considering starting Jamie Arnold on the mound for their upcoming game against Tennessee. In a recent interview, Jarrett talked about the College World Series, which is set to begin on Friday, and discussed his thoughts on pitching for that game.

Florida State secured a spot in Omaha, Nebraska, after defeating the Virginia Cavaliers 7-3 in an elimination game at the 2024 College World Series on Sunday. The Seminoles will now face the loser of the Tennessee-North Carolina game on June 18 at Charles Schwab Stadium.

Carson Dorsey, the starting pitcher for FSU, had a strong performance on the mound, pitching into the eighth inning and recording seven strikeouts on 106 pitches. Jaime Ferrer contributed to the Seminoles’ success with two home runs and four RBI, while Alex Lodise added a solo homer to extend their lead.

Although Virginia out-hit FSU 10-7, they were unable to overcome the Seminoles’ strong performance. UVA’s starting pitcher, Jay Woolfolk, suffered an injury early in the game, leading to Joe Savino coming in for relief.

The Cavaliers showed some late momentum with runs in the seventh and eighth innings, but a double play orchestrated by Lodise sealed the victory for FSU. Peter Holland Jr. covers Florida State athletics for Tallahassee Democrat and can be contacted via email at PHolland@Gannett.com.
