Foden set to rejoin England camp following the arrival of his newborn child

Phil Foden, the England midfielder, will be returning to Germany on Thursday following his travel to the UK for the birth of his third child. The 24-year-old had left the England camp for what the Football Association described as a “pressing family matter.” Foden, who has 37 caps, has been a key player for England in the tournament, starting all three group games including the recent draw against Slovenia.

England is set to face Slovakia in the last 16 of Euro 2024 on Sunday in Gelsenkirchen, and Foden is expected to rejoin training on Friday. The team, managed by Gareth Southgate, finished at the top of Group C with five points from three matches. In April, Foden and his partner Rebecca Cooke had announced on Instagram that they were expecting their third child. The couple already has two children, son Ronnie who is five years old, and daughter True who is two.

Foden’s return to Germany after the birth of his child signifies his dedication to both his family and his national team. Despite the personal milestone, Foden is eager to rejoin his teammates and continue to contribute to England’s success in the Euro 2024 tournament. His commitment to both his personal and professional life showcases his strong work ethic and determination on and off the field.
