Football Manager World Cup to Be Hosted by FIFA, With $100,000 Prize on the Line

In recent years, E-sports competitions have seen a surge in popularity. FIFA, the world’s governing body for football, announced that they will be hosting their first FIFAe World Cup of Football Manager this year. The event aims to crown the best virtual manager on the highly-popular video game Football Manager.

FIFA has partnered with Sports Interactive, the developers of the game, which has sold millions of copies and is used by football clubs for player and opponent scouting. The competition will feature players vying for $100,000 in prize money during the final event scheduled from August 29 to September 1.

Former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger, who is the event’s ambassador, highlighted the importance of participants showcasing a deep understanding of football strategy and tactics. He emphasized that success in the competition requires not just mastery of game mechanics, but also an in-depth knowledge of football.

In its inaugural year, FIFA plans to invite selected member associations to be represented at the final event. Member associations from all six confederations are expected to receive invitations. Interested players can sign up on FIFA’s website for a chance to participate in the competition.
