Former Chicago Bears defensive tackle Steve McMichael, who was recently voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, has been hospitalized this week. The news was confirmed by his former teammate Walter Payton’s son, Jarrett Payton, who revealed that McMichael is back in the hospital undergoing tests.

McMichael, who is 66 years old and has been battling ALS, was previously hospitalized for over a week in February due to multiple ailments. Despite his health struggles, McMichael remains a beloved figure among Bears fans for his contributions to the legendary 1985 Bears defense, widely regarded as one of the best in NFL history.

After playing 13 seasons with the Bears, McMichael spent his final NFL season with the Green Bay Packers. He was diagnosed with ALS in 2021, and his long-awaited induction into the Hall of Fame finally came to fruition this year when he was voted in as a senior finalist. The football world is rooting for McMichael’s recovery as he continues to face health challenges.
