Former Nebraska baseball players face off in pitching battle in MLB

Two former Nebraska baseball players faced off in a pitching duel in Baltimore at the professional level. On Wednesday night, Cade Povich took the mound for the Orioles in his second career start, while Spencer Schwellenbach pitched for the Braves in his third career start. Both pitchers lasted 6.0 innings in the game.

Baltimore came out on top with a 4-2 win over Atlanta, with Povich playing a key role in securing the victory. Povich threw a total of 89 pitches, with 63 of them being strikes. He recorded six strikeouts, gave up five hits, and did not allow any runs. On the other side, Schwellenbach also threw 89 pitches, with 62 strikes. He had three strikeouts, yielded four hits, two runs, and two walks.

In his first two games, Povich has accumulated eight strikeouts in 11.1 innings and 189 pitches. Schwellenbach, who has played three games so far, has pitched 15.2 innings with 262 pitches and has recorded 12 strikeouts.
