Former Vila y Manzano Director Seeks to Gain Control of Public Companies and Implement Greater Adjustment

Following the replacement of Nicolás Posse with Guillermo Francos as Chief of Staff, the Government made a decision to accelerate the adjustment process of public companies. Recent reports have suggested that Diego Chaher, the current public media controller, may replace Mauricio González Botto as the Secretary of State for Companies and Companies.

Chaher, a lawyer from Mendoza, has extensive experience in corporate management, having worked with Grupo América for nearly two decades. He gained recognition for his actions with Télam, leading to the closure of its headquarters and the initiation of a preventive crisis procedure, which resulted in hundreds of layoffs.

The possibility of Chaher replacing Botto was discussed during recent meetings, indicating a potential reorganization within the government inherited from Posse. While Francos is currently addressing emergency issues, such as the Senate ruling on the Base Law and other pressing matters, there is speculation about the direction of public companies under Chaher’s leadership.

Chaher’s potential appointment may not be the only change, as it is rumored that other officials like José Rolandi and Santiago Caputo could also see new roles within the Cabinet leadership. Caputo’s interest in advancing the privatization of public companies aligns with the government’s objectives to reduce the operating deficit and streamline state-owned enterprises.

In addition to potential personnel changes, Chaher’s actions have already resulted in the suspension of content dissemination on social media and public media websites. As the government aims to reduce the deficit and improve the efficiency of public companies, Chaher’s appointment could signal a new phase in the reorganization process.
