Four workers from Cho Lon Electricity Company sustained severe burns as a result of an electrical short circuit, fire, and explosion while working on repairing electricity at an underground cable line. They were taken to Cho Ray Hospital where doctors attempted to treat them for their injuries.
Dr. Ngo Duc Hiep, the Head of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Cho Ray Hospital, provided details about the most severely injured patient, a 28-year-old male with 2nd and 3rd degree burns covering 80% of his body. The patient received treatment for pain relief, intravenous fluids, tetanus prevention, blood tests, and CT scans of the head, chest, and abdomen before being transferred to the Department of Plastic Surgery for further treatment. His prognosis remains difficult due to the extent of his injuries.
The other three patients included a 46-year-old man with burns on his head and face, a 37-year-old male with burns on his ear and hands, and another 37-year-old with burns on his hand and ankle. They were treated for pain relief and tetanus prevention before being discharged from the hospital.
The incident occurred on May 8 while the workers were repairing electricity at an underground cable line in District 8. The details of the incident were provided by Dr. Hiep.
