Fox Sports is kicking off two major international soccer tournaments, starting with the UEFA Euro 2024 hosted by Germany facing off against Scotland. The tournament will consist of 78 matches over 30 consecutive days, with the first match airing at 3pm ET on Fox. Following the Euro tournament, Copa America will open on June 20 with matches scheduled in late afternoon and primetime windows.

Zac Kenworthy, VP of Production at Fox Sports, mentioned that this summer will feature more matches than ever before, prompting a shift in their strategy. With the resources and manpower available at Fox, they are prepared for the rigorous schedule. Studio coverage will be held at Fox Studio Lot A in L.A., with a broadcast team stationed in Germany to cover every Euro match from inside the stadiums.

By utilizing mixed technology such as AR and XR, Fox Sports plans to introduce new graphics and imagery to enhance storytelling during their broadcasts on Fox, FS1, and FS2. Kenworthy expressed excitement about the innovative ‘Soccer Palace’ where the coverage will be produced, anticipating a “wow factor” for viewers.

This marks Fox Sports’ first time hosting the Euros, as they acquired rights from Disney after the 2021 event. The tournament was previously aired on ESPN since 2008, but now Fox Sports will broadcast it through at least 2028. The event has seen growing viewership, with the 2021 final between Italy and England drawing in 6.49 million viewers on ESPN.
