The Duluth City Council meetings have long been known for their poor quality broadcasts on television and online. However, significant upgrades are currently being made to improve the viewing experience for the audience. The Council Chamber is being equipped with new and larger television monitors for better visibility. Additionally, new digital cameras are being installed to enhance the overall quality of the broadcast.
The total cost of these upgrades is estimated at $50,000, with funding coming from Public Access Community Television. Duluth City Clerk Ian Johnson expressed excitement about the improvements, noting that the ability to watch meetings from home will be much more convenient for residents. The video and sound quality is expected to be substantially improved, resulting in better records of public meetings.
The new broadcast equipment is anticipated to be fully operational in approximately two weeks. These enhancements mark a significant step towards modernizing the broadcasting technology used to bring Duluth City Council meetings to the public. With these upgrades, residents can expect a more engaging and informative viewing experience in the near future.
