Five student-athletes at McDowell High School in Millcreek Township made their college commitments official at the recent Signing Day ceremony. The event allowed these students to celebrate their achievements and future athletic endeavors.

In partnership with the Millcreek Education Foundation, the Millcreek Township School District is launching a capital campaign to raise funds for a multi-sport stadium. The proposed complex will be constructed at Gus Anderson Field and will include a fieldhouse, track, lighting, and other amenities. This initiative aims to revamp the athletic and spectator experience for students and the community, providing opportunities for physical activity, skill development, and community engagement.

The estimated cost for the new complex ranges from $10 million to $15 million. The school board has allocated $5 million from a bond issue for the project, with the Millcreek Education Foundation tasked with raising the rest of the necessary funds. Community involvement and contributions will play a crucial role in turning this vision into reality.

Despite a tuition increase, pre-kindergarten enrollment in Millcreek Township does not appear to be negatively impacted. Several architectural firms will be presenting proposals for the multi-sport stadium project during the School Board’s upcoming committee meetings.
