The 2024 Taiwan Technology X Culture Expo (TTXC) is set to take place in October at the Pier-2 Art Center in Kaohsiung, focusing on the themes of “gaming and entertainment,” “virtual idols,” and “technological art.” The City’s Bureau of Cultural Affairs announced this exciting event aiming to showcase the interweaving of culture and technology with the slogan “Future at Play.”

Visitors are encouraged to “press play” and immerse themselves in performances, film, music, technology, and industry at the expo, which will include the Kaohsiung Film Festival, Takao Rock music festival, and XR Dreamland. XR Dreamland features an international short film competition and an XR film competition, highlighting advancements in artificial intelligence and XR technologies by cultural workers in Taiwan.

Culture Minister Li Yuan emphasized Taiwan’s role in the semiconductor supply chain and the fusion of technology with artistic expressions. Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai highlighted the significance of the expo being held in the southern city, showcasing high-tech investments and cultural events like XR Dreamland, Asia’s largest XR film festival. XR technologies encompass AR, VR, and MR, aiming to merge physical and virtual interactions.

The expo, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Kaohsiung City Government, will run from October 12-27, with support from the Taiwan Creative Content Agency, central government ministries, local governments, and private enterprises. Takao Rock will close out the expo on October 11-13, featuring over 60 singers and bands from Taiwan and around the world. Early bird tickets for the music festival will be available on Opentix starting at noon on July 8.
