Rob Elliot has officially been named as the manager of Gateshead following his successful stint as interim boss. Alongside him, Louis Storey has been appointed as his assistant after the duo led the team to their first FA Trophy win and a sixth-place finish in the National League. Despite their success on the pitch, Gateshead were excluded from the play-offs due to not meeting the Football League’s ground ownership requirements.

Elliot and Storey took over in October 2023 after Mike Williamson departed for Milton Keynes Dons. They maintained the team’s sixth-place position and achieved 21 wins from 38 games in all competitions, culminating in a trip to Wembley for the FA Trophy final. Chairman Neil Pinkerton expressed his satisfaction with the caretaker management team’s performance, leading to their official appointment.

Pinkerton shared on the club website, “It was always our intention to sit down at the end of the season and agree terms, which we have now successfully concluded.” He also praised Rob, Louis, and the entire team for their hard work during the off-season, indicating that Gateshead is in a strong position for both on- and off-field recruitment plans.
