Goodyear, FirstEnergy, Smucker, and RPM International Make the Fortune 500 List

Every year, Fortune publishes a list of the 500 largest companies in the United States based on revenue. The most recent list for 2024 includes multiple businesses from Northeast Ohio. Among them are Akron-based Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. at spot 204, with $20 billion in revenue, and FirstEnergy Corp. at spot 331, with $12.5 billion in revenue. Goodyear moved down 13 spots from the previous year, while FirstEnergy moved up 13 spots.

The J.M. Smucker Company, headquartered in Orrville and reporting $8.5 billion in revenue, climbed 19 spots to 446 on the list. RPM International, based in Medina and reporting $7.3 billion in revenue, made the list at 492 after placing at 526 in 2023.

In the Greater Cleveland area, six companies made the 2024 Fortune 500 list. These include Progressive in Mayfield at 62, Sherwin-Williams in Cleveland at 176, Cleveland-Cliffs in Cleveland at 185, Parker Hannifin in Cleveland at 216, KeyCorp in Cleveland at 386, and Avery Dennison in Mentor at 450.

Additionally, the Fortune 1000 list includes two companies based in North Canton: Timken at 663 and Diebold Nixdorf at 779. Other Northeast Ohio businesses on the Fortune 1000 list include TransDigm Group in Cleveland at 537, Applied Industrial Technologies at 696, Lincoln Electric Holdings at 722, Hyster-Yale at 733, Medical Mutual of Ohio at 773, Avient in Avon Lake at 863, and Nordson in Westlake at 972.
