Google Search data shows a 30% decrease in Israeli’s interest in traveling abroad since the beginning of the war.

According to Google Trend data published by Google, Israel experienced a significant drop in tourism-related searches after seven months of war. Previously ranking fifth in the world for tourism information searches, Israel fell to 27th place in May of this year. Between September 2023 and May 2024, Israeli searches for tourism-related topics decreased by 30%.

Istanbul and Dubai have been replaced by Tbilisi and Bucharest as leading destinations for Israelis looking to travel, with searches for flights to Turkey, Morocco, the UAE, and South Africa decreasing significantly. Popular destinations for the summer include New York, Athens, Budapest, Larnaca, Vienna, Milan, Amsterdam, Paphos, Munich, and London.

For autumn holidays, Israelis are looking to travel to New York, Bangkok, Tokyo, Athens, Phuket, Rome, London, Budapest, Miami, and Milan. The Hanukkah-Christmas period sees searches for destinations such as Bangkok, Phuket, New York, London, Prague, Miami, Budapest, Athens, Manila, and Fort Lauderdale.

Overall, the tourism landscape for Israelis has shifted significantly, with preferences changing and new destinations emerging as popular choices for travel.
