The Mississippi State Department of Health is incorporating a gospel choir competition into its upcoming “Be in Good Health” symposium. The event, which will take place at the Jackson Convention Complex on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., will also feature informative TED-style talks from health experts and free on-site health screenings. The goal is to generate public interest in health and wellness.
At least eight choirs will be competing in the event, including Anderson United Methodist Church Praise Team, Pastor J Artie Stuckey & VOR, and DOXAMUZIQ. Screenings will begin at 8:30 a.m., with the competition and symposium running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. To reserve a seat, interested individuals can click on the provided link.
The symposium is a collaborative effort between the MSDH’s Office of Health Equity and the Community Engagement Center of the Jackson Heart Study. The inclusion of a gospel choir competition is expected to add a unique and enjoyable element to the event, helping to raise awareness about important health issues.
