Press Release: Governor’s Small Business Summit Welcomes First Lady Cecilia Abbott and Honors Women-Owned Businesses
Governor Greg Abbott has announced that the next Governor’s Small Business Summit in 2023 will be held in Fredericksburg on Thursday, September 21st. The event, which will take place at the Burg, will feature First Lady Cecilia Abbott as a special guest. The purpose of the summit is to support women-owned small businesses and aspiring women entrepreneurs by providing them with the resources and information necessary to launch, strengthen, and grow their businesses.
Governor Abbott emphasized that women business owners have the same opportunities as all entrepreneurs, including access to capital, fewer barriers to entry, and increased growth potential. He stated, “We are seeking greater freedom for the future.” Texas, particularly, offers more growth opportunities for women entrepreneurs than any other state, with 1.25 million women business owners. First Lady Abbott added, “At Texas, we believe in the limitless potential of women.”
The Governor’s Small Business Summit aims to empower women entrepreneurs by ensuring they have the knowledge and tools needed to succeed. By working with business leaders and providing them with the necessary resources, the summit aims to build a brighter future for Texas. The event also hopes to inspire young girls to believe in themselves and make a difference in others by showcasing successful women business owners.
The Governor’s Office of Economic Development and Tourism, the Governor’s Commission on Women, the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce, and the Texas Workforce Commission are co-sponsoring the summit. The event, which will take place at the Vista Oaks Event Center in Fredericksburg, will feature panel discussions on various topics, including finance and access to capital, marketing and social media, business growth, and employee recruitment and retention.
Registration for the summit is priced at $20, and it includes access to all sessions, resource providers, lunch, and a free headshot.
