Nantahala Health Foundation is preparing to launch its next competitive grant opportunity on July 1, focusing on educational, healthcare, and workforce programs benefitting youth and young adults aged 5 to 24. It aims to invest in initiatives that will help these individuals thrive and succeed in various aspects of their lives.

The foundation recognizes that children and young adults need a supportive community, healthy relationships, quality healthcare, and education opportunities to set them up for success. Additionally, as they transition into adulthood, access to job opportunities that enable them to provide for themselves and their families becomes crucial.

Executive Director Lori Bailey highlighted the foundation’s commitment to enhancing health and well-being since 2019. This year, the foundation is directing its efforts towards children and young adults, aiming to create tangible and positive changes in their lives.

Over the past five years, the foundation has invested nearly $3.5 million in regional programs and has leveraged over $15 million for improved health outcomes. The upcoming grant cycle, starting on July 1, is projected to allocate up to $300,000 in additional grant funding to support the region. Grant award announcements are scheduled for December.

While agency representatives are not required to attend, they are encouraged to participate in an in-person session to learn more about the funding priorities, application process, review criteria, and expected outcomes. Sessions will take place in Franklin and Murphy in early July, and registration is requested to ensure sufficient space is available.

NHF is seeking public support to enhance its impact further. Fundraising efforts have commenced, aiming to raise $50,000 by the end of the year from individuals and business leaders who share the foundation’s goals of improving the lives of youth and young adults in the community. Interested parties can visit NantahalaHealthFoundation.org/grantmaking or call 828.634.1527 to register for the event.
