Greg McElroy from ESPN advises to not underestimate Clemson

Heading into the 2024 college football season, Dabo Swinney and the Clemson football program are facing a lot of skeptics. The Tigers have the potential for a wide range of outcomes this upcoming season, as their success will largely depend on whether their offense can take the next step. If they do, they could be top contenders in the country, but many doubt that they will reach that level.

Despite the doubt surrounding the program, ESPN analyst Greg McElroy is one person who believes in Clemson’s capabilities and warns against underestimating them. He points out that while there has been a lot of talk about other ACC teams like Miami and Florida State, Clemson should not be overlooked. McElroy specifically highlights the Tigers’ strong defense and the potential for their offense to improve with key players like Cade Klubnik and Phil Mafah stepping up.

McElroy’s perspective is that Clemson is a team that is flying under the radar, which could work in their favor. Being underestimated could motivate the Tigers to prove their doubters wrong and exceed expectations. While success is not guaranteed, history has shown that Dabo Swinney’s teams perform well when counted out.

Overall, despite the mixed opinions and media attention surrounding Clemson, McElroy’s belief is that being underrated could ultimately benefit Swinney and the Tigers as they strive to make a statement in the upcoming season.
