Wei Pang, Javad Foroughi, and Damir Mikec are competing at the Tokyo Olympics in shooting, an Olympic sport since the first modern Games in Athens in 1896. The sport will also be featured at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The shooting events at Paris 2024 will take place from 27 July to 5 August at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre, located 140 miles south of the French capital. There will be 15 shooting medal events at Paris 2024, including disciplines such as 10m Air Rifle, 50m Rifle 3 Positions, 10m Air Pistol, 25m Rapid Fire Pistol, and more.

There are three Olympic shooting disciplines: rifle, pistol, and shotgun. Athletes aim at targets at distances of 10m, 25m, and 50m using relaxation techniques to lower their heartbeat for accuracy. Shotgun events take place outdoors, with shooters aiming at flying disc-shaped targets. China was the top shooting nation at the Tokyo Olympics with 11 medals, followed by the United States with 116 medals, and Great Britain with 33 medals. Great Britain’s most recent gold medal was Peter Wilson in 2012, and Matt Coward-Holley won a bronze medal in men’s trap in Tokyo. Amber Hill was the best women’s performer, finishing sixth on skeet in Rio 2016.
