Joey Logano, fresh off his Cup victory at Nashville, will be stepping in to replace Hailie Deegan in the No. 15 at AM Racing for the Xfinity Series Chicago Street Race. Deegan has been facing challenges in her rookie Xfinity campaign, with a 28th place finish in the last race at Nashville. Throughout the season, Deegan has finished 25th or worse in 11 out of 17 Xfinity races, with her best result being 12th at Talladega. Currently, she is ranked 27th in points, the lowest among drivers who have participated in all 17 Xfinity races this season.
Wade Moore, the team president of AM Racing, acknowledges the high level of competition in the Xfinity Series and aims to field a competitive race team through their technical alliance with Stewart-Haas Racing. Despite their efforts, AM Racing has not seen the success they were looking for in the first half of the season. Given the opportunity to have a two-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion like Joey Logano in the car at Chicago, they see it as a chance to leverage the knowledge and feedback he can provide to help the team grow and improve on track performance.
