Hamburg allows intensive offenders (18) to stay longer instead of deportation

Amir N., an 18-year-old Afghan refugee, has been making headlines in Hamburg for his criminal activities as the leader of the “315er” drug gang. Despite being involved in drug trafficking, violent crimes, and coercion, his residence permit has been repeatedly extended, allowing him to continue his illegal activities in Germany.

Amir N. is known for forcing teenagers to sell drugs by using threats and violence, and even handling firearms himself. Recently, a special unit was deployed to arrest him and he is currently in youth prison awaiting trial. Investigators have seized drugs, weapons, and cash from the gang members.

The case of Amir N. highlights the flaws in German migration policy, as he was granted refugee status at the age of 10 and his residence permit was extended multiple times, despite being a known criminal. The Senate acknowledges that he has been listed as an intensive offender since 2022 and has been under continuous observation.

Politicians in Hamburg are now facing pressure to take action against persistent criminals like Amir N. Interior Minister Nancy Faeser and Minister Cem Özdemir have both stated that those who commit crimes in Germany should be deported. The decision about Amir N.’s future will test whether politicians are willing to take action against criminals who abuse the system.
