HCA Virginia hosted a block party celebration in Richmond on Saturday with the aim of promoting healthy living. The event took place on June 15 at Retreat Doctors’ Hospital and featured a mental health panel discussion, engaging activities, and informative booths.
The celebration’s theme was “Jubilee – A Celebrational Fair to Promote Healthy Living,” with a specific focus on mental health awareness. Rolynn Wilson, the Weekend Evening Anchor for 8News, moderated a panel discussion emphasizing the importance of mental health, particularly within the Black community.
Dr. Nancy Boykin, the chief operating officer and chief nursing officer for HCA Retreat Doctors’ Hospital, highlighted that all the vendors at the event were focused on mental health, wellness, and self-improvement. The goal was to address the stigma surrounding mental health and provide resources to the community to support those in need.
Partners for the event included HCA Virginia healthcare professionals, as well as community leaders from HCA Virginia’s Black Colleague Network and WHOA Behavioral Health. In addition to the mental health discussions, the event also featured music, food, and opportunities for physical activity such as yoga, line dancing, and hip-hop aerobics.
