Headway Technology Group, a Chinese marine equipment provider, has secured a contract to supply methanol fuel supply systems for dual-fuel bulk carriers owned by Fujian Guohang Ocean Shipping (Group). The company will provide equipment for 4+6 ships, which are 89,000 dwt methanol dual-fuel bulk carriers. The vessels will feature MAN B&W 6S60ME-C10.5-LGIM-EGRBP engines and will be built at Wuhu Shipyard.

The contract with Headway Technology Group includes core modules such as bunkering and transfer systems, methanol fuel treatment units, nitrogen systems, and control and security systems. The company’s OceanGuard methanol fuel supply systems will be installed on the vessels. The first four ships in this series are expected to be delivered between 2025 and 2026.

Headway Technology has developed the OceanGuard system as a domestic solution for methanol fuel supply and has successfully applied it to low-speed engines. The system’s performance and safety meet the requirements of large marine dual-fuel engines, according to the company. Additionally, Headway has partnered with Italy’s Fratelli Cosulich to provide a methanol fuel supply system for a 7,990 dwt methanol dual-fuel tanker.

The tanker ordered by Fratelli Cosulich will also use Headway’s OceanGuard supply system. Scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2025, the vessel will feature solutions like bunkering and transfer systems, methanol fuel treatment units, double-walled pipe ventilation systems, and control and security systems. Looking ahead, Headway Technology plans to focus on low-carbon shipping trends and ship intelligence to provide green solutions for its partners in the industry.
