In Al-Hasakeh, UNICEF implemented various health programs from May 2023 to the end of April 2024, benefiting a total of 71,000 children. These programs included health check-ups, free prescriptions, and referrals to specialized medical services for over 200 children. Additionally, more than 72,300 children under the age of five and over 13,500 pregnant and lactating women were screened for malnutrition. Those requiring treatment were provided with recommendations for the necessary nutrition supplies.

Furthermore, health workers conducted individual consultations and group awareness sessions for nearly 39,700 caregivers. These sessions covered topics such as infant and young child feeding, hygiene practices, and measures to prevent communicable diseases. The aim was to educate caregivers on best practices for keeping their children healthy and safe.

The funding for these activities came from various sources, including the Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA/USAID), GAVI, the Vaccine Alliance, the German Federal Foreign Office, and the Governments of Australia and Norway. This financial support enabled UNICEF to reach a significant number of children and caregivers in Al-Hasakeh, providing vital healthcare services and education to improve overall health in the region.
