This Fourth of July weekend, if you are planning on heading to the beach, be aware that the Florida Department of Health has issued a warning about unsafe water quality at three South Florida beaches. The advisory was recently released after regular testing showed elevated levels of bacteria in the water, exceeding state guidelines.

The health department strongly advises against any water-related activities at the following beaches: Oleta River State Park in North Miami Beach, Surfside Beach at 93rd Street, and Collins Park at 21st St. in Miami Beach. The warning emphasizes the increased risk of illness for swimmers due to high bacteria levels in the water.

For more information on the water quality at these beaches, you can contact the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade at 305-324-2400. You can also find water quality test results on the health department’s website. It is important to take precautions and stay informed to ensure a safe and enjoyable beach experience this holiday weekend.
