Helsinki Stock Exchange Freezes as Kalmar and Cargotec Take Divergent Paths in Price Movement

Tuesday saw a significant downturn in European stock exchanges, including the Helsinki stock exchange, with the general index falling by 0.7 percent. Nordea was the most traded stock of the day, with a 1.8 percent decrease in share price. Conversely, Betolar saw a 7.5 percent increase, while BBS-Bioactive Bone Substitutes experienced an 8.1 percent decrease.

Betolar, a materials technology company, announced a partnership with Norway Mineralerin to develop sustainable mining solutions in southern Norway. Meanwhile, BBS-Bioactive Bone Substitutes conducted a free share issue of 450,000 shares to the company itself, increasing its ownership to about 2.2 percent.

In other news, a fire broke out in a central warehouse, which was successfully extinguished. No injuries were reported. Kalmar, a new billion-dollar company spun off from Cargotec, made its debut on the Helsinki stock exchange, with its share price rising by 2.3 percent on the second trading day. Inderes and OP both provided target prices and recommendations for Kalmar and Cargotec.

Endomines reported a four percent increase in gold production for January-June 2024 compared to the previous year. The company expects further growth in the second half of the year. Meriaura Group sold a minority stake in its subsidiary and saw a rise in its share price.
German investment company ShapeQ doubled its investment in Fodelia, making it the third largest shareholder. Fodelia’s CEO also sold shares to ShapeQ, retaining his position as the largest shareholder. Valmet secured an order to deliver a carrier roller cutter to Wuzhou Special Paper in China in 2025. Administer made a purchase offer to acquire shares of Kuntalaskenna Oy from the city of Pieksämäki, with part of the purchase price to be paid in Administer’s shares through a directed share issue.
