The White House expressed outrage over the killing of seven humanitarian workers in Gaza, stating that they were hit by mistake by the Israeli armed forces. President Joe Biden spoke with the founder of the NGO WCK, José Andrés, to whom the victims belonged. White House spokeswoman Karine Jean Pierre said the president was heartbroken by the incident and would emphasize to Israel the importance of protecting humanitarian workers.

In response, the UK Foreign Ministry summoned the Israeli ambassador to London as three of the seven killed were British. Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Andrew Mitchell called for a swift and transparent investigation, shared with the international community, and full accountability after meeting with the Israeli ambassador.

Later, Israeli President Isaac Herzog apologized for the airstrike, expressing deep sorrow and sincere apologies for the tragic loss of life to Andrés. Herzog’s apology came after a day of international condemnation and calls for accountability.
