High schools ranked by U.S. News & World Report

When looking for the best places to live in America, it is important to consider factors such as population, cost of living, educational opportunities, and crime rates. Data-driven platforms have constantly changing rankings of towns and cities across the country that are worth considering. Yair Ben-Dor explores the metrics and rankings to find surprising places climbing the ranks.

U.S. News & World Report recently reviewed nearly 25,000 public high schools in the country to determine its annual rankings, with more than 200 schools in Kentucky making the cut. The list was compiled using standardized testing results, graduation rates, College Board and International Baccalaureate exam data, and the U.S. Department of Education’s Common Core of Data. In Kentucky alone, 226 schools were recognized among the best in the state.

Among the top 10 public high schools in Kentucky, according to U.S. News & World Report, are schools like Dupont Manual High School in Louisville, J. Graham Brown School in Louisville, and Highlands High School in Fort Thomas. Other schools making the list include Atherton High School in Louisville, Beechwood High School in Fort Mitchell, and Pikeville High School in Pikeville. South Oldham High School in Crestwood, Lafayette High School in Lexington, Ballard High School in Louisville, and Barbourville City School in Barbourville were also recognized for their excellence.
