The much-anticipated T20 Cricket World Cup match between India and Pakistan is currently taking place in Nassau County. Approximately 34,000 people, some of whom paid substantial amounts for tickets, are filling the stadium at Eisenhower Park. Law enforcement is on site to ensure a high level of security for all attendees, a process that took nearly two hours to get everyone into the venue. Patrols are active both on the ground and in the air, with the presence of Homeland Security and the NYPD there to assist Nassau police with their duties. Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder noted that this is the largest security event the area has ever hosted.
In Seaford, fans have also gathered for a free watch party at Cedar Creek Park. Security checkpoints have been set up throughout the park to ensure the safety of all those in attendance. News 12’s Carmen Grant is on the scene, capturing the sights and sounds of the event for viewers to experience the match as it unfolds.
