Historic Study Reveals Evidence of Time Reversal, Scientists Say

Feb 13, 2024

The notion of time travel has captivated humans for centuries, but has always been confined to the realm of fiction. However, scientists have now discovered evidence of real time travel, albeit on a microscopic scale. The study was conducted by Till Bohmer and Thomas Blochowicz, who are the lead authors of the study, “Time reversibility during the aging of materials,” published in Nature Physics. The research focuses on the shuffling of time within the structure of materials such as glass.

The study reveals that time doesn’t behave in a strictly linear manner, particularly within the structures of certain materials. Glass, among the items used daily, features a fascinating structure in which its molecules are continuously relocating into new places. This constant shifting of molecules effectively reverses time on a molecular level. Laser light was scattered to observe these subtle changes, which necessitated the use of an ultra-sensitive video camera to document the minuscule fluctuations in the molecules.

As glass constantly moves internally in this manner, scientists cannot conclusively determine whether the changes are taking place forwards or backwards in time. Although this phenomenon won’t bring humans closer to actual time travel, it will undoubtedly alter the way we perceive certain materials that are used routinely.

A 2023 study has further shaped our understanding of time travel. It effectively refutes the possibility of traveling backwards in time. According to the study, time in the universe can only progress in one direction, a conclusion drawn from research into light and its interaction with other objects.
