Huawei recently introduced the ‘Cloud for Good’ project, which aims to promote sustainability and advance education, the environment, healthcare, and inclusion through innovative technologies such as cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI). The company revealed this initiative at the Huawei Cloud Summit Spain 2024, where they outlined their strategy for using technology to drive social progress and enable an intelligent future under the philosophy of “Everything as a service.”
During the summit, Huawei Cloud’s Marketing Director, Aka Dai, unveiled the ‘Cloud for Good’ project, emphasizing the use of cloud technology to address social challenges in areas like education and the environment. Huawei Cloud, drawing on its 30 years of digital transformation experience, aims to provide cloud services that empower partners to lead their own digital transformations successfully.
One example showcased at the event was the Pangu weather model developed by Huawei Cloud, which uses AI to improve weather forecasting accuracy and help protect lives during extreme weather events. Another example highlighted how cloud and AI technologies were used to monitor and protect Bonelli’s eagles in a natural park in Barcelona, demonstrating the potential for environmental conservation through technology.
In the healthcare sector, Huawei Cloud’s Pangu medical model serves as an intelligent assistant for doctors and patients during medical examinations, diagnosis, and treatment. By implementing this AI model in a Chinese hospital, several cases of misdiagnosis have been prevented, ultimately saving lives and promoting inclusive healthcare.
Dai emphasized the collaborative and innovative nature of these projects, urging partners and clients in Spain to join forces in accelerating the country’s digital transformation. By leveraging cloud technology and AI, Huawei aims to drive positive social impact and create a more sustainable and inclusive future.
