Hurricane wreaks havoc on Jamaica, death toll rises: ‘It’s devastating, everything is destroyed…’

Amoy Wellington, a 51-year-old resident of Top Hill, a rural farming community in Jamaica, described the devastation caused by the powerful Category 4 hurricane. She expressed fear and shock as she mentioned that everything was gone and that she was scared inside her house.

The death toll from the hurricane has now risen to at least 10, with reports of strong winds and heavy rain causing widespread destruction overnight in Jamaica. Tragically, a woman in Hanover Parish lost her life after a tree fell on her house due to the storm’s impact. The community is in mourning and facing the harsh reality of the aftermath of the natural disaster.
