I sampled McDonald’s CosMc’s and now Dunkin’ should be on high alert.

McDonald’s has recently opened four locations of its new concept restaurant, CosMc’s, with one near Chicago and three near Dallas. The chain plans to test a total of 10 locations this year. The original Chicago location has been up and running after a year of anticipation, and it seems to be gaining popularity quickly.

CEO Chris Kempczinski described CosMc’s as a small-format concept with a unique personality, offering customizable drinks, sweet and savory treats, and familiar favorites such as the Egg McMuffin. Despite the initial success, Kempczinski warns against getting overly excited, as the concept is still in the early testing phases with only 10 stores open.

I decided to visit the original CosMc’s location in Chicago to see what all the buzz was about. The concept is still in its early days, and its future remains uncertain. However, the potential for CosMc’s to disrupt the market should be a concern for other coffee chains.

McDonald’s has kept details about CosMc’s relatively quiet, but CEO Kempczinski hinted at its potential during an earnings call. The company sees the concept as a significant opportunity in the $100 billion market space. While the expectations are high for CosMc’s, McDonald’s is optimistic about the potential for strong return on investment.
