Iezzi from Tinexta Cyber: The Problem of Humans Being at the Center of AI

One of the key messages emphasized within the Government and recently by the G7 is the importance of placing man at the center of artificial intelligence. This sentiment was echoed by Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso at the conclusion of the G7 of Industry organized in Verona and Trento. However, experts like cybersecurity strategist Pierguido Iezzi argue that simply placing man at the center of AI does not resolve all the ethical issues inherent in its development and use.

According to Iezzi, man is already at the center of artificial intelligence, but this is not necessarily due to ethical considerations. AI, being anthropocentric in its design, inherits the fallibility of its creators. Factors such as data collection methods, sources, algorithms, and the potential for manipulation all contribute to the risks associated with AI. The architect of AI ultimately determines its reliability and this is where potential pitfalls may arise.

Ongoing conflicts around the world, including those between Russia and Ukraine, highlight the role of human decision-making in the use of artificial intelligence. Iezzi argues that the focus should shift from placing man at the center of AI to ensuring the reliability of AI systems. Rules and regulations are important, but there is a need for greater awareness and training for citizens to adapt and evolve alongside AI technology.

The risk of underestimating the dangers associated with artificial intelligence could have far-reaching consequences, similar to what happened with the widespread use of social networks. It is essential for individuals to have a full understanding of the implications of their data and the potential risks involved. Training and awareness programs must be implemented to prepare society for the changes brought about by AI.

Ultimately, the responsibility lies with both the government and private sector to address the challenges of AI and ensure that individuals are equipped to manage and navigate its complexities. By educating employees and fostering a culture of awareness and understanding, the impact of AI can be more effectively managed within communities and organizations. Collaboration between stakeholders is crucial in shaping a future where man remains at the center of artificial intelligence while being empowered to navigate its complexities effectively.
