In 2024, Ohio State and USC Display Stark Differences

As the 2024 Big Ten football season approaches, it is evident that Ohio State is a formidable team that has strengthened in ways not seen in recent years. Unlike past Ohio State teams that excelled on offense but struggled defensively, this year’s Buckeyes will rely heavily on their defensive capabilities. Quarterbacks like J.T. Barrett, Justin Fields, and C.J. Stroud were able to score high points but often found themselves in high-scoring shootouts due to their defensive weaknesses.

The Buckeyes in the past, as well as the 2022 USC football team, were known for their high-scoring games where victory often came down to who could outscore the opponent. However, this year’s Ohio State team aims to win games with a stronger defensive presence, focusing on limiting their opponents’ scoring opportunities. Instead of relying solely on their offense to win games, the Buckeyes are looking to create a more balanced approach to secure victories with a stronger defensive effort.

Mark Rogers and Trojans Wire’s Tim Prangley recently discussed the defensive-minded Ohio State team on the Big Ten Live Show at The Voice of College Football.
