In the 2024 ‘Best States’ rankings, where did the First State place?

U.S. News and World Report recently released its annual list of the best U.S. cities to live in for 2024. The report takes into consideration factors such as a state’s economy, public safety, education, and more. Delaware ranked fourth in fiscal stability, ninth in health care, and 21st in economy. However, the state ranked lower in infrastructure, crime and corrections, education, and natural environment.

The rankings are based on what matters most to residents, such as health care and education, followed by state economies, infrastructure, and opportunities offered to residents. Fiscal stability, crime and corrections, and the natural environment are also taken into account. Delaware outperformed neighboring states Pennsylvania and Maryland, but was ranked below New Jersey.

According to U.S. News and World Report, the top 5 states to live in for 2024 are Utah, New Hampshire, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Idaho. On the other hand, the worst 5 states to live in are Alaska, West Virginia, Arkansas, Mississippi, New Mexico, and Louisiana. Celebrity sightings at Delaware beaches and unique celebrations like Hot Dog Month are also highlighted in the report.
