Inclement weather alters Tuesday’s high school softball and golf schedules – Mitchell Republic

Due to rain and high wind conditions, the postseason schedules for high school softball and golf contests in Mitchell have been altered. Many of the contests scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, have been moved to Wednesday. Mitchell’s Class AA SoDak 16 showdown with O’Gorman has been rescheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Sanford Sports Complex in Sioux Falls instead of Sherman Park in Sioux Falls.

As of 10 a.m. Tuesday, half of the 24 softball games scheduled to be played on Tuesday have been moved to Wednesday. Other area games that have been rescheduled include Hanson at Florence/Henry at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Florence, Elkton-Lake Benton at Bon Homme at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Tyndall, Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy vs. Scotland/Menno at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Sanford Sports Complex in Sioux Falls, previously scheduled to be played in Scotland, McCook Central/Montrose at Castlewood at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, and Parkston at Madison at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Two high school golf meets scheduled for Tuesday have also been altered by the weather. The Region 4B golf tournament, initially scheduled for Tuesday at Lakeview Golf Course in Mitchell, will now take place with a 9 a.m. start time on Wednesday, May 22 at Lakeview. The Eastern South Dakota Conference girls golf meet originally scheduled for Tuesday has been moved to 10 a.m. Thursday at Fox Run Golf Course in Yankton.
