The senior meteorologist stated on Monday that India is currently experiencing its longest-ever heat wave, with temperatures expected to continue rising. This wave has lasted for about 24 days in different parts of the country, similar to a record temperature of 49.2 degrees Celsius recorded in New Delhi in 2022.
Meanwhile, Egypt is also facing an unprecedented heat wave, particularly in the governorates of Upper Egypt. This extreme heat has tragically resulted in the deaths of approximately 50 Sudanese individuals who suffered sunstroke while attempting to enter Egypt through the desert. Greece is bracing for its first heat wave of the year, set to begin on Tuesday with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. There are concerns about potential wildfires breaking out in various parts of the country.
The Meteorological Service in Greece predicts that temperatures could reach 42 degrees Celsius in the central regions, while Athens, in particular, is expected to see temperatures as high as 38 degrees Celsius by Thursday. The recent heat wave in Greece has already caused difficulties, and the upcoming wave is likely to further strain the country’s resources and population.
