Inflation Causes Lincoln Maternity Thrift Store to Experience 60% Decrease in Business

Kristi Cadenbach opened her own maternity clothing store in November 2022 after feeling uncomfortable shopping for clothes during her pregnancies. She wanted to create a safe space where mothers could shop without stress. However, due to inflation, she is now struggling to keep her store open. Cadenbach used to have about 40 customers a week, but now only has around 15.

She ensures that every woman and child who enters her shop is taken care of by having fitting rooms big enough for strollers and a play area for kids. Cadenbach wants to expand her store to offer classes and parenting support groups but is facing declining sales. Thrift stores tend to do well even in bad economic times, but even they are feeling the impact of the current economic situation.

To boost sales, Cadenbach is hosting her third pop-up event called “Bumps, Babies, & Beyond” in Bellevue in August. The event will showcase items for pregnancy, postpartum, and nursing, with food trucks, face painting, and multiple vendors. She is also building a website to sell clothes online in hopes of increasing sales. For more information about All About Mama, you can visit their website.
