Over the weekend in Oakland County, two individuals were shot at a building that was filled with drugs. The incident took place within the Huron Plaza in Pontiac, specifically in the 700 block of West Huron Street. Oakland County deputies were first informed of the shooting at 10:52 p.m. on Friday, May 31.
When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they observed multiple bullet holes in the front facade of the business and spent shell casings in the street. Additionally, several cars in the parking lot had been damaged by gunfire. Upon entering the building, officers discovered a loaded assault rifle-style magazine and multiple shell casings.
Inside, they encountered a 23-year-old man from Pontiac holding an AR-style rifle. He had sustained a gunshot wound in the back, but it was described as minor. The man was taken to a nearby hospital and is currently in stable condition. Another 23-year-old Pontiac man was found in a back room with a more serious back injury and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Police uncovered a significant quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia scattered throughout the business, indicating that it was likely being used as an after-hours meeting spot. During the investigation, a 28-year-old Pontiac man was identified as a suspect and arrested without any issues. He is currently in custody at the Oakland County Jail with charges pending.
In the suspect’s car, authorities found a drug scale, baggies, and additional marijuana. The case remains under investigation by law enforcement. Rest assured, further updates will be provided as the situation unfolds.
