Intel introduces the latest Lunar Lake processors for AI, set to be featured in 80 PCs by 2024

During the Six Five Summit, Intel showcased its “AI Everywhere” strategy, emphasizing its commitment to helping businesses and organizations of all sizes harness the power of artificial intelligence. The event, targeted at companies in the global technology ecosystem, featured top international executives from Intel who discussed the company’s advancements in various areas such as AI PCs, data centers, edge computing, foundries, and environmental sustainability.

A major announcement at the summit was the introduction of new processors called “Lunar Lake,” set to be released in Q3 2024. These processors will be used in over 80 new AI PC models from more than 20 manufacturers. The “Lunar Lake” platform is expected to offer 40% higher energy efficiency and three times better AI performance compared to the previous generation. With a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capacity of up to 48 TOPS and a GPU capacity of over 60 TOPS, the platform is projected to exceed 100 TOPS.

An AI PC combines a CPU, GPU, and NPU, each designed with AI acceleration capabilities. The NPU, in particular, is specialized for handling AI and machine learning tasks on the PC itself, reducing the need to transfer data to the cloud. By optimizing energy efficiency and performance, Intel aims to revolutionize the way PCs operate and enhance user experiences.

Aside from technological advancements, Intel also emphasized its dedication to environmental sustainability at the summit. The enhanced energy efficiency of the “Lunar Lake” platform is a demonstration of Intel’s efforts towards a greener and more sustainable future. With the success of Intel Core Ultra processors and the upcoming launch of “Lunar Lake,” Intel aims to ship over 40 million AI processors for PCs by the end of 2024.
